Nueva Delhi: Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Monday the name change of various places in the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar de Uttarakhand.
According to an official statement, the decision reflects the public feeling and Indian cultural heritagewith the aim of honoring historical figures that contributed to preserving Indian traditions.
In Haridwar, Aurengzebpur Will Be Renamed Shivaji Nagar, Gajiwali To Arya Nagar, Chandpur To Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Mohammadpur Jat To Mohanpur Jat, Khanpur Kursli To Ambedkar Nagar, Indrishpur To Nandpur, Khanpur To Shri Krishna Pur, and Akbarpur Fazalpur to Vijayanagar.
In Dehradun, Miyanwala will be called Ramji Wala, Pirwala to Kesari Nagar, Chandpur Khurd to Prithviraj Nagar and Abdullah Nagar a Daksh Nagar. In Nainital, Nawabi Road will be renamed Marg, while the Panchakki path will be called Guru Golwalkar Marg. In Udham Singh Nagar, the Sultanpur Patti municipal council will now be known as Kaushalya Puri.
