Washington: United States approved the extradition of a suspect in the 2008 militant attacks in the financial capital of India, Mumbai, in which more than 160 people were killed, President Donald Trump said Thursday at a press conference with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trump did not appoint the individual at the press conference, but a joint statement of the two parties later identified the man as Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin who was headquarters in Chicago, was convicted in 2011 and then sentenced to 13 years in prison.
At the end of last month, the United States Supreme Court rejected the petition for frog review against its extradition. Rana was previously sentenced to the United States Federal Prison for providing support to Lashkar-E-Taiba.
Speaking in a joint informative session with Modi, Trump announced that his administration had approved the extradition of one of the “very evil people” of the world to India.

“He will return to India to face justice,” he said.
“We return it to India immediately,” Trump added, insinuating that more extraditions could follow as “we have enough requests (New Delhi).”
Modi, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Trump for the decision.
Trump was also asked about SIJ separatists in the United States, whom India calls security threats. Although he did not answer the question directly, Trump said India and the United States worked together in the crime.
Since 2023, the alleged targeting of Sijs from India in the United States and Canada has become a wrinkle in ties, with Washington accusing a former Indian intelligence officer in a frustrated American plot.

Modi said that the largest and fifth economies in the world would work on a “mutually beneficial commercial agreement” to be sealed very soon “, with an focus on oil and gas.
Only the fourth world leader in visiting the White House since Trump’s return, Modi described the nationalist fellow as a friend.
The two also promised to “strengthen cooperation against terrorist threats of the groups”, including Al Qaeda, the militant group of the Islamic State, Jaish-E-Mohammad and Lashkar-E-Taiba.
In addition, “they promised to work together to avoid the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems and deny access to such weapons by terrorists and non -state actors.”
