Amritsar: There has been shock at the Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar from morning, where 205 Indians who had illegally entered the United States illegally return to India today.
Strict security measures have been implemented on routes that lead to Sri a Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport and the base of the Air Force, with the Punjab police and the CISF staff deployed to maintain order.
Reports indicate that the administration has organized buses and other vehicles within the airport facilities to facilitate the transport of people deported to their respective houses.
Notable development is the expected arrival of an American military plane, C-17, at Amritsar airport. While officials remain with tight lips on the exact schedule and the number of deportees on board, unconfirmed reports suggest that 205 people are being repatriated through the United States aircraft.
A message that circulates among the media staff indicates that among those deported, 33 are from Haryana and Gujarat, 30 years of Punjab, and others from several states, which takes the total of 104 people who come to Amritssar. They include the size of Kapurthala, five from Amritsar, four from Jalandhar and Patiala, two from Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sbs Nagar, in addition to one from Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Sangur, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib.
The flight left from San Antonio and is expected to land in Amritssar around 1.30 pm at the base of the Air Force.
According to the airport authorities, the deportees would previously arrive on Tuesday night, but the calendar that we later reviewed.
Security officials have confirmed that a list of people arriving has been received. Preliminary verification has not found notorious criminals among them, fountains said.
There is no relative of those deported at the airport and it is believed that the police have restricted their movement.
It is known that deported Indians can leave after immigration and customs procedures and that they will be given to the Punjab police for greater movement to their respective native places.
Punjab Minister of Affairs, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, has expressed his consternation for the decision of the US government to deport the punjabis who live there without the appropriate documentation.
