Toronto: The United States has temporarily limited government staff visits to high -end hotels in Karachi after receiving a threat report, the State Department said Friday.
“The United States Consulate General, Karachi, received a report from a threat aimed at high -end hotels in Karachi,” the department said in a security alert.
“The General Consulate of the United States in Karachi has temporarily limited the visits of the official government personnel of the United States to these hotels.”
The State Department said that sometimes it declares areas in foreign countries, such as tourist attractions, hotels, markets, shopping centers and restaurants, outside the limits to the official staff of the United States government in response to such threats.
The security alert urges people to avoid areas and crowds, maintain a low profile and keep alert in places frequented by tourists and citizens of Western countries.
The State Department currently has a travel warning for Pakistan that advises US citizens to reconsider trips there due to the risk of terrorism and the potential of armed conflicts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain also advised Friday against all trips but essential to Pakistan parts.
