The United States is expelling the South Africa Ambassador in Washington, the Secretary of State for Marco Rubio said on Friday, accusing the envoy to hate the country and President Donald Trump.
“The South Africa ambassador to the United States is no longer welcome in our great country,” Rubio published in X.
Ebrahim Rasool is “a politician who scores the career that hates the United States and hates potus,” he said, referring to Trump for his White House x mango. “We have nothing to argue with him, so he is considered a non -pleasant person.”
The expulsion of the ambassador, a very rare movement of the United States, is the last development in increasing tensions between Washington and Pretoria.
Trump in February froze American aid to South Africa, citing a law in the country that claims that the land allows the land to be seized of white farmers.
Last week, Trump fed tensions even more, saying that farmers in South Africa were welcome in the United States after repeating their accusations that the government was “confiscating” the land of whites.
Trump posted on his real social platform: “Any farmer [with family] From South Africa, who seeks to flee from that country for security reasons, he will be invited to the United States of America with a fast path to citizens. “
One of Trump’s closest allies is the billionaire born in South Africa Elon Musk, who accused the government of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to have “openly racist property laws.”
Earth’s property is a controversial issue in South Africa, and most cultivation lands are still owned by whites three decades after the end of apartheid and the government under pressure to implement reforms.
During an G20 event in South Africa last month, Ramaphosa said he had a “wonderful” call with Trump shortly after the US leader assumed the position in January. But the relationships later “seemed to leave the rails a bit,” he said.
In his X post, Rubio was linked to an article by The Conservative News Outlet Breitbartwhich approached Rasool comments through live broadcast to a foreign policy seminar on Friday.
“He said that white supremacism was motivating Trump’s” disrespect “for the” current hegemonic order “of the world.” Breitbart He informed, he added that Rasool pointed out that the “Make America Great Again” movement of Trump “was a white supremacist response to the growing demographic diversity in the United States.”
Rasool, an Apartheid activist in his youth, has expressed anger towards the Israeli government for his military campaign in Gaza. In February, in an interview with the news site ZeteoHe said that what the South Africans experienced during the apartheid rule “is in steroids in Palestine.”
