Dubai: Iran said Tuesday that the road to nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States is not closed, but the demands of the United States on Iranian ballistic and hypersonic missiles are obstructing the perspectives of conversations.
A sixth round of United Iranian conversations was suspended after Israel and the United States attacked Iranian military and nuclear facilities and Iran took reprisals with waves of ballistic and hypersonic missiles against Israel.
“In fact, we seek rational negotiations. By raising issues such as missile restrictions, they establish a path that denies any conversation,” said the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani, in a publication about X.
Western countries claim that Iran’s uranium enrichment program could produce material for an atomic head and that it seeks to develop a ballistic missile to wear one.
Iran says that its nuclear program is only for the generation of electricity and other civil uses and that uranium is enriching as fuel for these purposes.
He has denied having tried to create missiles capable of transporting nuclear useful loads and says that their defense capabilities cannot be open to negotiation in any conversation about their atomic program.
Larijani’s comments continue the launch of last week by France, Germany and Great Britain of a “Snapback mechanism” that could impose UN sanctions against Tehran on its nuclear program.
The three countries have urged Iran to participate in nuclear negotiations with the US, among other conditions, so that the imposition of Snapback sanctions is delayed for six months.
