US continues review of visa policies for ‘travel ban’ – Newspaper

Washington: “The deadline is not today,” said the spokesman for the United States Department, Tammy Bruce on Friday, when asked if the deadline for visa policy review had extended.

However, she confirmed that a review of the United States visa policies is still ongoing.

The deadline of 60 days to announce the new policy expired on Friday. The reports of the US media had speculated that politics would be announced on Friday afternoon.

But Mrs. Bruce reiterated that the Trump administration is carrying out a broader security review of visa policies under the executive order issued on January 20.

She emphasized that the review focuses on improving security measures related to visas and entry into the country.

Disienting the reports that Pakistan and Afghanistan were on a list of nations that face visa restrictions, Mrs. Bruce had said in a previous informative session: “First, there is no list.”

However, US media reports suggest that President Trump can soon impose travel prohibitions or restrictions on citizens of more than a dozen countries, including Iran and Venezuela.

Trump’s order requires US agencies to establish stricter research standards and present a list of non -compliant countries before March 21.
