US ambassador to Ukraine to step down as peace talks uncertain

Washington-the United States Ambassador to Ukraine is renouncing his position after almost three years in kyiv amid the uncertainty about the Trump administration attempts to negotiate a peace agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

The State Department said Thursday that Bridget Brink will leave his post in the near future, although it was not clearly clear when he would leave. Brink assumed the position under the administration of former President Joe Biden and has been a firm defender of US military assistance to Ukraine.

His resignation was expected for some time, especially taking into account the Trump administration premium about the approach with Russia and ending the war.

“Ambassador Brink is renouncing,” the department said. “She has been the ambassador to kyiv for three years, that is a long time in a war zone. And, frankly, the war has continued for too long.”

“The real problem is whether Russians and Ukrainians are ready to do what is necessary to end this war,” he said.
