UP Jal Shakti Minister hails Jal Jeevan Mission extension, calls it a ‘lifeline’ for rural growth | India News


Luchnow: Jal Shakti Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Swatantra Dev Singhhas welcomed the decision of the central government to extend the Jal Jeevan mission (JJM) until 2028, calling it a crucial step for Rural development.
The extension, announced by the Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman, in the Budget of the 2025 Union, aims to promote the mission of providing Drinking tap water For all rural homes. Singh praised the initiative, stating: “JJM has become a lifeguard for the development of Uttar Pradesh and the country.”
He stressed that the double motor’s government commitment to “Har Ghar Jal” has transformed rural infrastructure, accelerating the development of the village throughout the state.
According to the government of Uttar Pradesh, 2.34 Crore rural families have benefited from the connectivity of the tap water under JJM. In addition, the State has reached 100% of the tap water supply in the Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions, which fought with the severe water shortage before 2017.
