Amroha: Uttarakhand Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated on Sunday in a congratulations program in the Amroha district, was held to commemorate the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State, and attributed the achievement to the people of Devbhoomi, qualifying it as celebration of the essence of the Constitution.
When addressing the event, CM Dhami said: “This honor is not only mine, but belongs to the town of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. The 1.25 million people in the state affirmed the resolution we presented during the elections of the Uttarakhand 2022 Assembly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His trust and the mandate made this achievement possible.”
A congratulation ceremony was organized at the Campus of the University of Venkateshwara, Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh, in honor of Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for implementing the uniform civil code for the first time in Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as a tribute to the essence of the Indian Constitution.
He said that the introduction of the UCC honors the vision of the editors of the Constitution, who imagined a harmonious society by incorporating the idea of ​​a uniform civil code.
Reflecting on the elections of the Uttarakhand 2022 Assembly, he said that the people of the State challenged conventional political trends by choosing a BJP government for second consecutive mandate.
Highlighting the progress of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhami emphasized that the nation is on the way to achieving the status developed by 2047.
He affirmed that once India reaches this milestone, each citizen will enjoy equal rights, an initiative that has already begun in Uttarakhand with the implementation of the UCC. He accredited the guide of Prime Minister Modi to take the UCC to the State, stating that the law complies with the aspirations of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
The prime minister characterized UCC as a constitutional step to eliminate legal disparities based on caste, religion and gender.
He stressed that the law guarantees equal rights for all citizens of Uttarakhand and marks a significant advance in Empowerment of women.
He pointed out that Muslim women in the state have now been released from practices such as Halala, Polygamy, Child Marriage and Triple Talaq. In addition, he assured that women in Uttarakhand will no longer face discrimination in inheritance and property rights.
Dhami said that the UCC would expedite the judicial process, which makes it more efficient and accessible. He described the law as a protective shield that safeguard the rights of millions of women.
He also mentioned that several Muslim women have expressed their gratitude after the implementation of the UCC. When addressing concerns, he clarified that the law is not directed to any religion or sect in particular, but seeks to promote social harmony by eliminating obsolete practices.
He assured that legislation would not affect the fundamental beliefs and traditions of any faith. In addition, he noted that many developed nations, including several important Muslim countries, have already adopted similar laws.
The main minister expressed his confidence that the implementation of the UCC in Uttarakhand will establish a precedent for the rest of the country.
Drawing a parallel to the Sacred Ganges river, which originates in Uttarakhand and nourishes the entire nation, declared that the reform current initiated through the UCC will inspire other states to adopt similar measures.
