An undefeated Pakistan team won Iran 3-2 on the final of the Asian Under-16 volleyball championship to win the tournament held at Nakhon Phanom, Thailand.
After being 0-2 down before in the game, Pakistan made an incredible return to winning three consecutive sets to win the last 3-2.
The scores in the five series were 22-25, 21-25, 30-28, 25-21, 15-10.
Junaid was Pakistan’s top scorer with 28 points together for Faizan in second place with 22 points.
Talha and Muhammad Irfan intervened with nine and eight points each.
The Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, praised the victory and praised the team in his victory.
“The proud moment for all of us, since the U-16 volleyball team has won the Asian championship, defeating the defenders champions in the final. A moment of pride and inspiration for the entire nation. Well done, champions!”, Said Interior Minister in an X.
On Friday, Pakistan beat India 3-0 in the tournament semifinal to qualify for the final.
The green shirts beat India with a clean sweep by winning three consecutive sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-12).
“The stellar performances of Junaid, Faizan, Irfan and Talha promoted the green shirts in the final and a step closer to glory,” said the Pakistan Volleyball Association.
The victory also confirmed the Pakistan qualification for the U-17 World Volleyball Championship, which secured its entrance to the semifinals of the current tournament.
“The upper block of Pakistan and the rapid counterattacks left the Indian team struggling to win impulse,” said the PVF in a press release, adding that the result stressed the country’s growing stature in the youth volleyball in Asia.
Chief coach Kafait Ullah had praised the performance, describing it as a “victory of the statement” against a traditional rival.
On Wednesday, Pakistan said a place in the semifinals of the U-16 Asian Volleyball Championship and reserved his position in the FIVB U-17 World Championship next year after defeating Indonesia in Sets in the quarterfinals.
The national team had registered another 3-0 victory with established scores of 25-23, 25-20, 25-20. The key contributions came from Junaid, Faizan, Talha and Saran, which were fundamental to maintaining the undefeated streak of Pakistan in the tournament.
