Two women were killed and 30 others injured on Sunday when a roller coaster carrying a wedding party crashed into the mountainside on Jab Highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Haripur, according to Rescue 1122.
A statement from Rescue 1122 said the accident occurred due to brake failure.
Later, four Rescue 1122 ambulances and one rescue vehicle were sent to the spot, he said, adding that the bodies and most of the injured were shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre. Two of the injured whose condition was critical were sent to Abbottabad.
In a similar incident in late September, 11 deaths were reported after a truck crashed in KP’s Dera Ismail Khan. Three people were also injured in the crash, which a Rescue 1122 spokesperson attributed to brake failure.
In another accident in the same month, on September 9, two women died and four people were injured after a jeep they were traveling in plunged into a ravine in Mansehra, KP.
This happened two days after five members of a family died in a road accident on the Hazara Expressway in Haripur. The accident occurred when a trailer heading to Rawalpindi collided with a car near Maqsood junction on the highway.
