Lakki Marwat police frustrated an offer of kidnapping of terrorists in the Landewa Gorabai area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with three rescued people, two murdered terrorists and an injured policeman in the rescue operation, according to a senior police officer.
Faced with the growing attacks of militants, especially in KP and Baluchistan, security forces have also intensified anti -terrorist operations.
Khanzala Khan, spokesman for the Bannu Regional Police officer (RPO) Sajad Khan, said Dawn.com that the terrorists tried to kidnap three locals in the Landowa Gorobai area of Lakki Marwat.
“The Local Police immediately launched a search operation after receiving information about the incident,” Khan said. “During the operation, the police had a face to face with the terrorists.”
The spokesman added that the terrorists opened fire against the police team, with a policeman who suffered a minor injury.
“However, the Police and the DSP (Deputy Police Superintendent) present at the scene fought bravely and pushed the terrorists,” Khan said, adding that the police recovered the three kidnapped. “Three terrorists were injured in the match and their teammates took to the mountains. Two terrorists died on the spot.”
The spokesman added that the police officer of the Lakki Marwat district, Jawad, directed a search operation to track the escaped terrorists.
“The local peace committees fully cooperated with the police,” Khan added.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, especially in KP and Baluchistan, after the TTP ended its fire with the government in November 2022.
Pakistan took second place in the 2025 global terrorism index, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks that increased by 45 percent during the past year to 1,081.
However, there was a significant improvement in the Pakistan internal security scene in April 2025, “as militant attacks and the resulting casualties fell sharply compared to March,” according to data published by the Pakistan Institute for conflict and security studies.
