Two alleged terrorists were shot dead after an exchange or fire with the police and the terrorism department (CTD) in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a police officer said on Tuesday.
Police and CTD carried out a joint operation against criminals in Domel Tehsil de Bannu, which led to a fire exchange from both sides for more than 20 minutes, a statement by the regional police officer Sajad Khan Read.
“As a result, two terrorists were shot dead, while their accomplices managed to escape after taking advantage of the darkness and nearby bushes,” the statement added.
The suspects were identified as Hussain Ahmed, and Inaam aka Tooru, resident of Haider Khel, Waziristan del Norte.
“The murdered terrorists were involved in several important attacks and IED explosions,” added the police officer.
Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four hand grenades, six magazines, 150 bullets and two mobile phones in the alleged terrorists.
Police and CTD were looking for the alleged terrorist Inaam in five different cases to attack and kill police officers, while Hussain Ahmed was sought in three different terrorist incidents.
RPO Sajid said Bannu and CTD police had avoided a possible important terrorist attack due to timely action. He said that an operation has been intensified to arrest the escaped suspects.
He promised that CTD and the Police are determined to establish the law and order in the area and completely eradicate terrorism.
Earlier this month, several suspects were arrested and a cache of heavy weapons seized during a joint search and strike operation carried out by the Police, the Department of Terrorism and the Army in Bannu.
