Four terrorists died, including two leaders of a network, during an operation carried out by security forces in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khyber district, said the army media wing in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security personnel carried out the intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bagh area of the Khyber district, where they killed four terrorists and wounded two others.

“Four Kwarij including Kharji The leaders of the Aziz Ur rehman @ qari ismail and mukhlis were sent to hell, while two Kwarij It was injured, ”said the ISPR using the term that designates the members of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

On January 17, five terrorists were killed in an IBO in the Tirah area of the Khyber district, said the army media wing. An ISPR statement said IBO was carried out based on the reported presence of terrorists.

He added that the security forces faced the terrorists and, as a result, five, including the ABIDULLAH alias Turab leader, “were sent to hell” while one was arrested.

Pakistan has recently witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, especially in KP and Baluchistan.

Terrorist attacks have increased since the forbidden Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan broke a fragile high fire agreement with the government in 2022.

A security report, published earlier this month by the PAK Institute for Peace Studies (PIPs), based in Islamabad, showed that in 2024, the number of terrorist attacks reached levels comparable to the security situation in 2014 or before.

He said that while terrorists no longer controlled specific territories within Pakistan as they did in 2014, the reigning insecurity in parts of KP and Baluchistan was “alarming.”

He said that more than 95 percent of the terrorist attacks recorded in 2024 concentrated in KP and Baluchistan.

KP registered the largest number of terrorist incidents in the country in 2024, with 295 attacks. Meanwhile, the attacks of several insurgent groups illegal Baluchis, mainly the BL and the Liberation Front of Baluchistan (BLF), experienced an amazing increase of 119 percent, which represents 171 incidents in Baluchistan, he said.
