Dineh Sharma, who made an inauguration ceremony for the house for his new residence, published a photo in X with an identification plate at the written entrance Swami Vivekananda Marg.
“Today, together with my family, I made an inauguration ceremony of the house and formally moved to my new residence in Swami Vivekananda Marg (Tughlak Lane) in New Delhi,” Dianesh Sharma wrote in X.
Last month, Mustafabad MLA of BJP Mohan Bisht He proposed to rename the circumscription of the Northeast of Delhi, which has a significant minority community population, to “Shiv Vihar” or “Shiv Puri”. Bisht justified the proposal, saying that the Hindu population in the constituency was greater. “On the one hand, there are 58%, and in the other, 42%. It is the right of 58%that the name must change accordingly,” he said.
The change of names of places, roads and institutions is part of the BJP border ideological agenda to eliminate colonial legacies to reflect the indigenous heritage of India.
The party also states that the measure is to honor historical figures, particularly those that contributed significantly in the configuration of Indian society.
Multiple instances of name change under the BJP rule have been carried out. In 2018, Allahabad was called Prayagraj to restore his old identity linked to the Hindu pilgrimage site, Prayag. The same year, the Mughal Sarai railway station was renamed Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction in honor of the BJP ideologist.
In 2018, the Faizabad district was renamed Ayodhya to emphasize its religious and cultural importance in Hinduism. In 2021, Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh was called Narmadapuram to highlight its connection with the Sacred River Narmada while eliminating the influences of the Mogol era.
More recently, in 2023, Aurengabad de Maharashtra was renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinar, and Osmanabad became Dharashiv, throwing Mogol and Islamic references in favor of local historical and cultural identities.
The Tughlak dynasty
GHIYASUDIN TUGHLAQ (reign 1320-1325) was the founder of the Dinasty Tughlaq and the ruler of Delhi sultanate. He established the dynasty after overthrowing the Khiljis and is known for its military conquests, administrative reforms and the construction of Fort Tughlaqabad in Delhi.
His rule focused on strengthening the defense and economy of the empire. However, he died in 1325 in mysterious circumstances, supposedly due to a conspiracy of his son, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq, who happened.
Muhammad Bin Tughlaq was the second ruler of the Tughlaq dynasty and is known for its ambitious but often political impractical. He tried several bold reforms, including the transfer of the capital of Delhi to Daulabad, introducing tokens currency and launching expensive military campaigns, most of which failed due to bad execution.
His policies led to economic anguish, rebellions and the weakening of the Sultanate of Delhi. His reign is often remembered for administrative failures and disturbances. He died in 1351 while campaigning in Sindh.
