The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday said a “high-value target” identified as a Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander was among four terrorists killed after security forces foiled an attempt to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
In a statement, the military’s media affairs wing said that the movement of a group of kwarij The attempt to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was stopped by security forces in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Our own troops effectively fought and frustrated khwarijs‘attempt to infiltrate. As a result of a precise and skillful commitment, four kwarijincluding the Kharji leader, a high value target kharji Amjad alias Mazahim, were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.
The statement further said that the militant leader was the deputy of TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud and the head of Indian Rep. Fitna al Khwarij’s Rehbari Shura. Fitna al Khawarij is a term that the State uses to refer to terrorists belonging to the TTP.
The ISPR said the militant leader was wanted by law enforcement agencies and that the government had assigned him a reward of Rs 5 million because he remained “actively involved in perpetuating numerous terrorist activities within Pakistan while residing in Afghanistan.”
“It is pertinent to highlight that the leadership of Fitna al Khawarijwhile residing in Afghanistan, he is orchestrating infiltration attempts into Pakistan, primarily to project an impression of internal presence and boost the declining morale of its inhabitants. kwarij in Bajaur and Mohmand due to effective operations of security forces,” the ISPR said.
“It is reiterated once again that the interim Afghan government must take concrete measures to ensure that Afghan soil is not used by kharji representatives to perpetrate terrorism against Pakistan,” the ISPR said.
“It also validates our position that Afghan soil is continually used as [a] sure [haven] by kwarij belonging to Fitna al Khwarij against Pakistan,” he said.
18 terrorists killed in two separate operations in Balochistan
Earlier in the day, the ISPR said 18 terrorists were killed in two separate operations in Balochistan. In a statement, the ISPR said the militants belonged to the Indian power, Fitna al Hindustan.
The State has designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna al-Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilization across Pakistan.
The ISPR stated that an intelligence operation (IBO) was carried out in the Chiltan range in Quetta district in view of the alleged presence of terrorists.
“During the operation, our own troops effectively attacked the terrorists’ location and after an intense exchange of fire, 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” he said.
The ISPR further claimed that another IBO was carried out in Buleda in Kech district where a hideout was dismantled and four militants were “successfully neutralised”.
“Arms, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the slain terrorists, who were still actively involved in numerous terrorist activities,” the ISPR said.
He said disinfection operations were being carried out to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area, adding that the anti-terror campaign by security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari, in a statement posted on social media platform X, paid tribute to security forces for eliminating 18 militants. He said the operation was a reflection of the security forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also said that the entire nation supports the country’s security forces in the fight against terrorism. In a statement, he also reiterated the firm commitment to eradicating terrorism in all its forms from the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan, mainly targeting police, law enforcement personnel and security forces. The increase came after banned group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan failed to comply with a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022.
A day earlier, at least six Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred while seven terrorists were killed during an IBO in Dogar in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the military, seven terrorists were also killed in the operation.
