A tsunami clock has been issued for several parts of the BC coast after a large earthquake in the Pacific basin near Kamchatka, Russia, Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency information BC says there was an earthquake of magnitude 8.7 around 135 kilometers southeast of the Russian city of Petropavlovsk around 4:25 pm PT on Tuesday.
A tsunami clock has been issued for the north and central coasts of BC, the west coast of the island of Vancouver and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, including the great victory.
Local governments in these areas have been asked to activate their emergency plans by the National Tsunami Warning Center based in the United States.
