The Canada Transport Security Board (TSB) says it is launching an investigation after a Westjet flight from Toronto made a “hard landing” at an airport in the Caribbean country of St. Maarten on Sunday afternoon.
The passengers and the crew had to be evacuated from the 2276 flight of Westjet after its landing at Princess Juliana International Airport, the airline said in a statement on Sunday.
The video of the incident showed undulating smoke after the plane contacted the track.
A Westjet plane made a “hard landing” at an airport in the Caribbean country of St. Maartten, the airline said on Sunday, but no injured passengers was reported.
Westjet said there were no reported injuries and that all passengers were counted.
The Federal Agency said in a statement on Monday that it would send researchers to St. Maarten to collect information about what happened.
The airport said that on social networks the plane did not catch fire and also said that there were no injuries, but noted that three people were “taken for medical evaluation” as caution.
