President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to new sanctions and tariffs on Russia about his bombings of Ukraine, after previously suspending US help to kyiv in an attempt declared by encouraging diplomacy.
“Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘hitting’ Ukraine on the battlefield at this time, I am considering strongly large -scale bank sanctions, sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a high fire agreement and the final agreement on peace are reached,” Trump wrote in his real social platform.
“For Russia and Ukraine, it arrives at the table right now, before it is too late,” he wrote.
Trump’s threat occurs after Russia launched the main attacks of drones and missiles on Friday in Ukraine energy infrastructure.
Days before, the Trump administration suspended the deliveries of US military aid and the intelligence shared with Ukraine after a dispute with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump and Vice President JD Vance, on February 28, rebuked Zelensky in a televised meeting at the White House, accusing him of ingratitude for billions of dollars in American weapons.
Since then, Trump has faced harsh criticism from national allies and opponents who say he has put himself on the side of Russia, which Ukraine invaded in 2022.
The United States voted with Russia and against its European allies on the resolutions of the United Nations that required an end to war without stressing the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Last month, Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone in an initial step to resume normal relationships and undo the radical sanctions imposed under former President Joe Biden for the invasion of Ukraine.
