The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Thursday that the United States was getting a lot to ensure a nuclear agreement with Iran, and that Tehran had “agreed” according to the terms.
“We are in very serious negotiations with Iran for long -term peace,” Trump said on a tour of the Gulf, according to a report from the shared pool of AFP.
“We are coming to make a deal without having to do this … there [are] Two steps to do this, there is a very, very pleasant step and is the violent step, but I don’t want to do it in the second way, ”he said.
An Iranian source familiar with the negotiations said there were still gaps to close the conversations with the United States.
The new conversations between Iranian and American negotiators to resolve disputes about Tehran’s nuclear program ended up in Sunday with new planned negotiations, authorities said, since Tehran publicly insisted on continuing their enrichment of uranium.
Although Tehran and Washington have said that they prefer diplomacy to resolve the nuclear dispute of decades, they remain divided into several red lines that negotiators will have to avoid to reach a new agreement and avoid future military actions.
Iran’s president reacted to Trump’s comments on Tuesday, calling Tehran the “most destructive force” in the Middle East.
“Trump believes that he can sanction us and threaten us and then talk about human rights. All crimes and regional instability are caused by them (United States),” said Masoud fishshkian.
“He wants to create instability within Iran.”
American officials have publicly declared that Iran should stop the enrichment of Uranium, a position that Iranian officials have called a “red line” that states that they will not renounce what they consider as their right to enrich Uranium on Iranian soil.
However, they have indicated a will to reduce the level of enrichment.
Iranian officials have also expressed their preparation to reduce the amount of uranium highly enriched in storage: enriched uranium beyond the typically necessary levels for civil purposes, such as nuclear energy generation.
However, they have said that he would not accept reserves lower than the amount agreed in an agreement with the world powers in 2015: the agreement that Trump resigned.
The Iranian source said that, although Iran is prepared to offer what it considers concessions, the “problem is that the United States is not willing to raise important sanctions in return.”
Western sanctions have severely impacted the Iranian economy.
Regarding the reduction of the enriched uranium in storage, the source said: “Tehran also wants it to be eliminated in several stages, with which the United States does not agree either.”
There is also disagreement about the destination to which the highly enriched uranium would be sent, added the source.
