The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened Iran on Sunday with bombing and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not reach an agreement with Washington on his nuclear program.
In a telephone interview with NBC newsTrump said US and Iranian officials were talking but did not give details.
“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombings,” Trump said. “But there is the possibility that if they do not reach a deal, I will make secondary rates as I did four years ago.”
In his first 2017-21 mandate, Trump withdrew the United States from a 2015 agreement between Iran and the world powers that placed strict limits in the disputed nuclear activities in Tehran in exchange for relief of sanctions.
Trump also reimputed the US sanctions. Since then, the Islamic Republic has far exceeded the limits agreed in its growing uranium enrichment program.
Hashran has so far rejected Trump’s warning to reach an agreement or face military consequences.
Iran sent an answer through Oman to Trump’s letter in which he urged Tehran to reach a new nuclear agreement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi was summoned by the official. IRNA News agency on Thursday.
The Western powers accuse Iran of having a clandestine agenda to develop the capacity of nuclear weapons enriching uranium to a high level of fisrosil purity, above what they say it is justifiable for a civil atomic energy program.
Tehran says that its nuclear program is totally for civil energy purposes.
Trump threatens secondary tariffs on Russian oil
The president of the United States said Sunday that he will impose secondary tariffs from 25 to 50 percent in all Russian oil if he feels that Moscow is blocking his efforts to end war in Ukraine, and could begin within a month if there is no fire.
Trump told NBC news That he was “angry” when the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, criticized the credibility of the leadership of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, NBC reported.
He also told him NBC news By phone that planned to talk to Putin this week.
During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to end what he calls a “ridiculous” war in Ukraine, and has focused largely on the subject since he assumed the position on January 20. Trump has asked for new elections in Ukraine and falsely called to Zelensky a dictator.
Putin suggested that Ukraine could be placed in a form of temporary administration to allow new elections and the signature of key agreements, which could effectively expel Zelensky.
“If Russia and I cannot reach an agreement to stop the spill of blood in Ukraine, and if I think it was Russia’s fault … I will put secondary tariffs on oil, especially oil that comes out of Russia,” Trump said.
“That would be that if you buy oil from Russia, you can’t do business in the United States,” Trump said. “There will be a rate of 25 percent especially the oil, a rate of 25 to 50 points especially the oil.”
He said that tariffs on Russian oil would arrive within a month without a high fire agreement.
Trump said Putin knows that he is angry with him, but said he had “a very good relationship with him” and “anger dissipates quickly … if it does the right thing.”
