Trump blasts New York governor for backing Mamdani in Big Apple’s mayor race – World

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, criticized the New York Democratic governor on Monday for supporting the candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, whom he described as a “communist” in a social media post.

Mamdani, a 33 -year -old New York state assembly and socialist socialist, shook American politics and the establishment of the Democratic Party in June by winning the primaries of the mayor of the party.

It is still the favorite in the surveys before the elections of November 4 to decide who will be the next mayor of the most populous city in the United States.

“Governor Kathy Hochul in New York has backed the communist ‘Liddle’,” wrote the president of the United States.

“This is a fairly shocking development, and very bad for New York City. How can such a thing happen? Washington will be observing this situation very closely.”

Mamdani has campaigned on a wealth gap reduction platform among rich and poor New Yorkers and providing affordable homes to low -income residents.

On Sunday, Hochul gave his support to Mamdani on Andrew Cuomo, the former governor and member of one of the most politically influential families in New York. Mayor Eric Adams, the headline, is running as independent.

“The affordability has long been my highest priority as governor, and it is the number 1 concern that I share with Mr. Mamdani,” Hochul said when issuing his support.

“As governor, I have taken measures to carry out this objective, including the reduction of taxes on the middle class and make school meals free for all students. But there is more work ahead of us.”

She also shot the president.

“And in the light of abhorrent and destructive policies that leave Washington every day, I needed to know that the next mayor would not be someone who would be delivered to President Trump,” he said.
