Washington – The administration of President Donald Trump began on Thursday a mass dismissal of federal workers.
The personnel management office officials met with the agency’s leaders and advised them to dismiss test employees, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Hundreds of thousands of people could be affected, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management, although the exact number of people who will be completed was not clear immediately.
Employees who have a state of trial have generally been with the federal government for only one or two years, before all their civil service protections have been activated.
“The trial period is a continuation of the employment application process, not a right to permanent employment,” said an OPM spokesman in a statement. “The agencies are taking independent measures in the light of the recent freezing of contracting and in support of the broader efforts of the president to restructure and rationalize the federal government to better serve the US people at the highest possible level.”
