The Afghan government under the Taliban has asked “mutual respect and constructive commitment” with Pakistan and China, according to a statement issued by its Interior Ministry.
The statement was issued after special envoys from Pakistan and China, Mohammad Sadiq and Yue Xiaoyong, met with the Minister of the Interior Afghan Sirajuddin Haqqani in Kabul. The trilateral forum was established in 2017, with previous meetings held in Beijing and the Afghan capital.
“Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani emphasized the importance of strengthening regional ties, stating that, from the perspective of the Islamic Emirate, the progress of economic and political relations, as well as regional understanding, can be achieved through mutual respect and contracting commitment,” said the interior of the Interior of Afghan.
He added that the special envoys of China and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen good neighboring relations and promote cooperation with Afghanistan based on mutual commitment. They also agreed that the sixth round of the trilateral dialogue among foreign ministers would be held in Kabul, continuing the established mechanism.
Separately, in a position on X, Ambassador Sadiq said: “The meeting was aimed at following the fifth trilateral dialogue among the foreign ministers of the three countries, held in Islamabad; prepare for the next sixth ministerial round; and strengthen the three -road political and economic cooperation.”
“The delegations emphasized their commitment to good neighboring relations, regional stability, mutual respect and constructive commitment as foundations for stronger ties,” he added.
Meeting with Afghan FM
Separately, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi held a Kabul meeting with the special envoys Pakistanis and Chinese and their accompanying delegations.
In a statement, the ministry said the meeting “focused on monitoring the agenda of the fifth round of the dialogue of the Trilateral Ministers Afghanistan-China-Pakistan.”
The fifth round, which was held in Islamabad in May 2023, had “emphasized by the need not to allow any individual or part, including Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Islamic movement of Oriental Turkistan (ETIM), etc., use their territories to damage and threatened regional security and interest, or conduct terrorist actions and activities.”
Kabul’s trilateral meeting on May 10 decided that the sixth round of the dialogue of the trilateral foreign ministers would be convened in Kabul, with preparatory measures that will also take place for the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan.
However, no date for the trilateral meeting was announced. “Underlining the importance of political and economic relations with both countries, FM Muttaqi expressed hope of continuous progress in these areas,” the statement added.
In an X publication, Ambassador SADIQ said the meeting provided the occasion for the convergence of views on economic and security cooperation, as well as regional stability.
Meeting with Afghan Minister of Commerce
Previously, Chinese and Pakistani envoys also met with Afghan Minister of Afghano Nooruddin Azizi. According to the Ministry, the meeting was aimed at strengthening and developing commercial relations, attracting investments and launching joint projects between Afghanistan, Pakistan and China.
The meeting discussed key issues, including the establishment of joint industrial parks in Afghanistan, the establishment of special economic zones, the launch of joint export processing centers, the possession of trilateral trade fairs, the establishment of small and medium -sized business support centers in Afghanistan and the facilitation of bank relations between the three countries was discussed and changed again.
Azizi expressed his gratitude for the presence of high -ranking representatives of Pakistan and China and emphasized the importance of joint and mutual cooperation, according to the statement.
“The policy of the Islamic Emirate is oriented to the economy, and we organize and implement programs to attract foreign investments based on this policy, taking into account common interests,” he summoned Azizi as special envoys.
The Afghan minister officially invited his Pakistani and Chinese counterparts to visit Afghanistan to deepen discussions and expand cooperation.
