The Federation announced the change after Trump threatened to extract federal funds from California unless he prohibits Trans athletes in women’s teams. The Federation said it decided the change before.
The United States Department of Justice also said that it would investigate the Federation and the District that includes the Hernández High School to determine whether they violated the Federal Law of Sexual Discrimination.
California’s Law allows students to compete in sports teams segregated by sex consisting of their gender identity.
The Federation said the rule opens the field to more “biological” athletes. An expert said that change can be discriminatory because it creates an additional place for “biological” athletes, but not for other trans athletes.
The Federation did not specify how the “biological woman” defines or how to verify whether a competitor meets that definition.
Sophia Lorey, director of dissemination of the California Family Council, was among those of the stadium on Saturday. She said that the federation policy is not a solution for the problem and that it only ends up causing more confusion.
“At the end of the day,” Lorey said, “shows the girls that we know that this is wrong and that we still let you pass.”
Hernández told the capital publication & main this month that he cannot worry about critics.
“I am still a child, you are an adult and that you act as a child shows how you are as a person,” he said.
Other students break the records
The California championship stands out from other states due to the large number of competitors. The State had the second largest number of students who participated in outdoor athletics in the nation during the 2023-2024 school year, behind Texas, according to a survey conducted by the National Federation of Secondary School Associations of the State.
The 100 -meter boys of 100 meters were also the highlight, with the Junior Jaden Jefferson of De la Salle High School in Concord ending in 10.01 seconds on Friday, 0.19 seconds faster than a meeting record established in 2023. But it fell just before he told as a record of encounter with one last time of 10.27 seconds in the Saturday of Saturday.
The athletes established new meeting records in several events, including the relay races of children, obstacle competitions and the children’s pole jump.
