In another accident that involved a heavy vehicle in Karachi on Thursday, a towing truck ran over a young man in the Superperda (highway), according to police officers and rescue services.
The city has recently witnessed an increase in traffic accidents, especially that they involve heavy vehicles, including Dumpers and water oil tankers, which killed almost 500 people and the injured 4.879 were in 2024, according to hospital data.
A total of nine dumpers and water oil tankers were burned by angry mobs last week near the main road that led Chowrangi 4 k after a heavy vehicle hit a bicycle rider, wounding it in the area of northern Karachi. On Saturday, a police officer said a trailer killed two men who rode a motorcycle with Sharea Liaquat.
Talking with Dawn.com Today, with respect to the incident in the Superhightay, the officer of the Police Station of the city of Gadap, Sarfraz Jatoi, said: “The trailer driver ran and killed the man while reversing the heavy vehicle in a gasoline pump near Kathore.”
Sho Jatoi said the wandering driver managed to escape from the place, leaving behind the trailer that was confiscated by the police.
The victim, identified as Nidash Kumar, 23, worked at the fuel station, said the officer.
The body was transferred to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital for legal formalities.
Separately, a 60 -year -old man died in an incident of outrage near the mausoleum of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton on Thursday morning, said the Edhi Foundation.
The man suffered critical injuries when an unknown vehicle hit him and was taken to the Jinnah postgraduate medical center, where he succumbed to injuries during treatment, the charity organization said.
His identity could not be determined immediately.
