Canada recently experienced two of its worst seasons of registered forest fires.
More than five million hectares burned last year, the most registered, apart from 2023, when forest fires burned 16 million hectares.
Alberta was hit especially hard, including Jasper’s popular tourist city, where a third of the community was burned in July 2024.
The first signals point to another active season of forest fires in 2025, particularly in western Canada.
Here is an updated look at the country’s forest fire situation today.
