New York – The two daughters of Tony Bennett have filed a new lawsuit against his brother, claiming that he was illegally enriched at his coast against his father’s wishes before and after the death of the legendary singer in 2023.
Antonia and Johanna Bennett filed the lawsuit on Monday in New York against D’A andrea “Danny” Bennett, who was his father’s manager and directs his family trust.
“Since the death of Tony, Johanna and Antonia discovered that Danny exercised complete and without control over Tony and her financial affairs before and after her death through multiple roles of authority that Danny has abused, and continues to abuse, by her own significant financial gain,” he clashes the supply.
He says that Danny Bennett took advantage of his father’s diminished capacity at the end of life due to Alzheimer’s disease to make agreements to make millions for him and his company, including the sale shortly before his death from the Tony Bennett catalog and his name, similarity and image rights to the ICONOCLAS brand development firm.
The sisters previously sued their brother in June looking for an accounting of their father’s assets and claiming that Danny Bennett had drove them badly. The new demand makes more serious and more specific accusations of irregularities.
Danny Bennett’s lawyers did not immediately respond to an email after the hours of attention for comments.
In judicial presentations in the previous claim, their lawyers said that the sisters’ claims had no foundation, that they had received sufficient accounting, and that Tony Bennett was completely confident of Danny Bennett during his life and accredited his son who took him out of financial problems and revived his career.
Danny Bennett was his father’s personal and professional manager with Power Oftdery, he was manager of his company Benedetto Arts and is the Family Trust administrator, says the demand.
The new demand accuses him of benefiting from “selfish and conflicting transactions, excessive and not won commissions”, and “loans and substantial gifts for himself and their children” that have decreased assets that Tony Bennett calls their four children to separate equally.
Another brother, Daegal “Dae” Bennett, and Tony’s widow, Susan Bennett, were also appointed in the lawsuit.
The demand says that the sisters have received a “unique modest distribution” of $ 245,000 each that is not “close to what they believe they have the right to receive.”
The sisters also claim that her brother has fought from elements of great sentimental value for them in a “malicious way and in retaliation” after their accounting attempts through the previous demand.
Bennett’s piano, which Antonia says they were promised, was in “terrible condition” when they were allowed to see him on a tour of the singer’s apartment, where they say they were denied access to much of their property.
The lawsuit seeks damage to be determined in the trial and that a judge eliminates Danny Bennett as head of Family Trust.
Tony Bennett, a legendary interpreter of classic American songs that created new standards, including “I Sirs Heart in San Francisco”, died in 2023 at age 96. There was no specific cause, but Alzheimer’s had diagnosed in 2016.
Bennett launched more than 70 albums. He won 19 Grammy Awards and an award for the Lifetime Achievement of Grammy.
