Bhopal: The Deputy Minister of CM and Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Jagdish Devda, presented on Wednesday the state budget of RS 4.21,032 million rupees by 2025-26, a 15% increase in the disbursement during the 2024-25 estimate of RS 3.65,06 Crore. There are no new taxes or an increase in existing taxes. The Government assured that no welfare scheme would stop, but several key schemes faced fund cuts.
Ladli Behna Yojana, seen as Gamechanger in the 2023 assembly elections, obtained most of the lion’s funds, but was cut by RS 315 million rupees. This year’s allocation of 18,669 million rupees is lower than 18,984 million rupees last year.
The Ladli budget allocation is higher than those of the emblematic schemes of Prime Minister Modi such as the Jal Jeevan mission (RS 17,136 million rupees), Pradhan Mantri Phamal Bima Yojana (RS 2001 Crore), PM Awas Yojana (RS 4,400 crore) and PM Gram Sadak Yojana (RS 1,550 crore).
Devda said that Ladli Behna beneficiaries will be linked to central schemes such as Atal Pension Yjana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana.
Under Ladli, the beneficiaries get RS 1,250 per month.
When the scheme was launched, the government had promised that the payment of RS 1,000 would gradually increase to RS 3,000 per month. But the last walk was in October 2023, one month before the surveys.
The cuts were also announced in Ladli Laxmi Yojana, PM Gram Sadak Yojana and even the assignment for government schools. The allocation for primary schools has been reduced from RS 15,509 million rupees to 11,837 million rupees, and that of the secondary schools of RS 9,258 million rupees at RS 7,206 million rupees.
The funds for Ladli Laxmi Yojana have been cut from RS 1,231 million rupees at RS 1,183 million rupees. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has faced a cut of RS 1,788 million rupees at 1,550 million rupees.
Dewda said the approach has been in the categorization of Gyan PM – ‘Garib’ (poor), ‘Yuva’ (Youth), ‘Annadaata’ (Farmers) and ‘Nari’ (women). “This is a budget for development. Our goal is to increase the per capita income of RS 1.4 Lakh to RS 22.3 Lakh, ”he said.
