A man supposedly shot three people, including a child, for ‘honor’ in the upper Dir Dir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said Monday.
Subdivisional Police officer (SDPO) Zaman Shah said Dawn.com“A man, a woman and her three -year -old daughter were killed by her husband in an alleged ‘honor’ murder incident in the Upper Dir Dadband area.”
He said that the suspect allegedly killed a man who said he was a herbalist and used to visit houses to receive treatment in the area.
He said: “[The suspect] He said he was mentally ill and worked as a worker in Islamabad, “added that he had come to the village a few days before and left his wife and daughter at home with his uncle.
The official added that the initial information revealed that the herbalist went to the Uncle’s house where the incident occurred.
“The suspect shot the herbalist shot with a gun outside the house and then entered, killing his wife and daughter,” Shah said, added that the police launched an investigation into the matter.
Shah also said that the cases of killing ‘honor’ had shot in recent years, but no one filed a complaint with the police in most cases.
“The State is the one that presents a first information report (FIR), but the suspects often receive relief from the Court,” he added.
In Pakistan, honor murders continued to claim the lives of women throughout 2024, perpetuated by deeply rooted social beliefs about family dignity and shame.
The data of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP) show that in 2024, the murders of ‘Honor’ continued to be a serious problem in all Pakistan, with particularly high figures in Sindh and Punjab. From January to November, a total of 346 people were victims of “honoring” crimes in the country.
Last month, a woman and her 16 -month -old daughter were allegedly killed by her relative for ‘honor’ in Mansehra of KP. In a FIR, the victim’s mother -in -law said that the reason behind the double murder was that her son had married the woman.
