The authorities in northern California recovered the bodies of three hikers who died after jumping to a waterfall in a remote area near Lake Tahoe.
The Sheriff County Sheriff of pleasure announced the recovery on Sunday.
The three men were part of a group of six who walked last Wednesday in the Soda Springs area, approximately 30 miles west of Lake North Tahoe, said the Sheriff’s office in a statement.
Three of the men jumped into the water in an area known as rattlesnakes and did not resurface, said the Sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office was alerted to a possible triple drowning shortly before 3 pm
The Sheriff’s office responded with a diving team that was transferred to the area through the helicopter, according to the statement. The remaining three hikers were transferred by plane on Wednesday night, said the sheriff’s office, pointing out the challenging land of the area.
The Sheriff’s office suspended search operations on Thursday afternoon due to powerful winds that caused strong currents and deficient underwater visibility.
The search was expected to resume on Sunday with a better climate, Sheriff’s office said Friday.
The Sheriff’s office did not immediately provide additional information about where men were found or how they died.
