New Delhi: el Ministry of Education has strongly refuted claims made by Indian Congress abroad President Sam Pitroda about an alleged piracy incident during his virtual interaction with students in “Iit Ranchi“
In a web transmission in X, Pitroda said that while he headed to “several hundred students” in “Iit Ranchi”, the session was interrupted when the computer pirates began to play “pornographic content.” He questioned if such interference was acceptable in a democracy.
The Ministry dismissed its statement as “without foundation” and clarified that there is no institution in Ranchi.
In response to his comments, the Ministry of Education issued a firm clarification. “He has realized that Shri Sam Pitroda shared a video in his handle x on February 22, 2025, claiming that he was talking in Iit Ranchi when the event was interrupted due to piracy. Therefore it is clarified that there is no iit in Ranchi. Therefore, the statement made in that video is not only garbage, but also of ignorance.”
The Ministry acknowledged that Ranchi is the home of an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), but said that Pitroda had not been invited to any event by the Institute. “IIit Ranchi has confirmed that Shri Sam Pitroda has not been invited by the institute to any conference or seminar, physically or practically.”
The statement further criticized Pitroda comments, accusing him of trying to tarnish the reputation of the prestigious IIT system. “Such imprudent statement seems to be an attempt to defame the image of an extremely reputed institution of the country, that is, the Indian Institute of Technology. This institution has resisted the test of time and has produced some of the brightest minds in the country. Unlike such an uninformed person, Iit’s reputation is based on merit, hard work and the achievement of many students, teachers and academia. “
Contenting the Pitroda statement, the Ministry also warned about the legal consequences for any attempt to damage the image of the main educational institutions of India. “The Ministry of Education condemns the statement and reiterates that any attempt at this attempt to malignant the image of the main institution will face legal repercussions.”
