Tesla recalls 46,000 Cybertrucks, citing exterior panel that it says can increase ‘risk of crash’

Tesla is removing more than 46,000 of its cybertrucks due to a cosmetic external adjustment panel that, he said, can “delaminate and separate from the vehicle”, potentially becoming a road danger and “increase the risk of an accident.”

The voluntary retirement covers a part of the vehicle known as a Cant Railroad and affects all Cybertrucks manufactured from November 2023 to February 2025, Tesla wrote in its presentation before the National Traffic Safety Administration on roads dated March 18.

The owners of affected vehicles can take their cybertrucks to the Tesla service department for a free replacement of the Cant Railway, the company wrote.

The value of Tesla has decreased around 40% to date, since CEO Elon Musk works as the main advisor of President Donald Trump and leads the work team of the administration known as the Government’s efficiency department.

Protest waves against Tesla and Musk have continued part of their political rhetoric and their work in the Trump administration.

Due to its unique design, the unpainted Cybertruck angular steel is frequently attacked by people who oppose musk. Cybertruck owners have complained online, from rude gestures to harassment and vandalism.

Tesla also faces increasing competition in battery electric vehicles, and like other American car manufacturers, is dealing with the uncertainty of rates and commercials after Trump signed multiple executive orders that impose new important rates on the goods of Canada, Mexico and Continental China.

Tesla does not eliminate sales figures per model. However, retired vehicles represent most cybertrucks on the road.

Since Tesla began the deliveries of her unusual truck in November 2023, Cybertruck has been plagued by manufacturing problems and quality problems. The NHTSSA website reflects that there have been nine cybertruck withdrawals.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

On Thursday, the information reported that Tesla plans to introduce Cybertruck battery technology in 2025 that “would sharply decrease the battery manufacturing costs”, citing a senior executive.

“The adhesive used to hold the piece can fail, which makes the rail not separate from the vehicle,” said a part of a NHTSA statement. “Tesla is not aware of any accident, injuries or deaths related to the problem.”

The NHTSSA said that Tesla implemented retirement after “discussions” with the automotive security agency. They also pointed out that vehicle owners with a complaint or security restlessness can complete the questionnaire of the owner of an online vehicle, or call the agency’s direct line to inform regulators that there may be a problem.
