There was a theory that Summer McIntosh was retaining energy in the World Championship in Singapore for a long -awaited 800 meter freestyle confrontation against Katie Ledecky.

McIntosh won the gold in the 200 -meter butterfly for three seconds on Thursday, but it was mostly upset because he had not broken the world record. McIntosh has been called as the next in Canadian swimming since his 2021 Olympic debut when he was 14 years old, when he took fourth place in the freestyle 400. The ascent has been meteoric since then, which culminated with a Canadian record of three gold medals (plus a silver) in the Olympic Games in Paris. In June, Mcintosh raised the bar even higher, breaking three world records in national trials in five swimmed.
