Sydney – A Sydney nurse has been accused of threats after she appeared in an online video saying that she would not treat Israeli patients.
Sarah Abu Lebdeh, 26, was arrested Tuesday night and accused of federal crimes to threaten violence to a group, using a carriage service to threaten to kill and use a transport service for threat and harass Police in a statement. The charges carry a possible maximum penalty of 22 years in prison.
Neither a defense lawyer nor Abu Lebdeh have commented on the charges. He was released on bail to appear in a Sydney court on March 19.
Abu Lebdeh and another nurse, Ahmed Rashid Nadir, were suspended from the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital on February 12 during an online exchange the previous night with the Israeli influencer Max Veifer. Abu Lebdeh said he would not treat Israeli patients, while Nadir suggested that he had killed the Israelis.
Nadir has not yet been interviewed by the police.
The hospital examined patient records and found no evidence that nurses had damaged patients.
