The suspect in a strange attack against Vancouver’s Seawall last month has been released, police said Tuesday.
Peterhans Nungu, 34, was arrested and accused of assault that caused body damage, police said, in relation to the assault in the coal port on April 15.
The news of the arrest came after a Toronto woman shared details of the violent attack on social networks.

In a new launch on Tuesday, the police said that Nungu received the bond and released from police custody on April 23, but was transferred to a safe medical center where he was under medical supervision. Police said he was discharged from there on Tuesday and will live under house arrest in Vancouver.
Nungu’s bail conditions include that the victim cannot contact, possessing weapons or consuming alcohol and drugs. It is under house arrest around the day unless you have permission to go to work or a medical appointment, police said.
The officers will monitor Nungu during his release, police said. Any person with information about alleged violations of bail conditions must communicate with the police immediately.
In a video posted on Tiktok last month, a woman said she was walking not far from her hotel in Coal Harbor when a man told her something, she ran towards her, grabbed her and threw her to the ground.
She said she could fight against man and escape, but he continued his search.
The woman said she broke her phone when she tried to call 911 and began hitting her in the head, adding that at one time she passed out.
CBC News contacted Tiktok user after the video was published, but did not receive an answer.
The BC Prosecutor’s Office confirmed last month as a person with the same name that Nungu was accused in Surrey on April 14, assault on a peace officer, pronouncing a threat of causing death or body damage to another person and pronouncing a threat of causing damage to property. He appeared in court that day and was released.
