Eleven people were hospitalized after being stabbed in a service provider for homeless people in downtown Salem, Oregon, Sunday night, police said.
A suspect was in custody after violence at 7:15 pm in the Mission of the Gospel de la Unión, said Salem Police spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.
The injured were taken to the Salem hospital, Hedrick said by email. The details about their injuries were not available.
The suspect was described only as a man, and there was no identity available.
Salem Health, the corporate father of Salem Hospital, did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Sunday night.
The incident took place in the male mission of 50,000 square feet of the mission of the Union, which opened in 2021 some blocks north of the old mission facilities, around 1960s, according to the organization. It is on the other side of the street of the Salem Police Department.
The non -profit ministry was founded by a group of Christian businessmen and today serves food, offers advice and seeks to house approximately 150 people every night, according to their website.
