Suspect arrested in Mianwali after body found in Lahore outhouse of PTI leader Aslam Iqbal – Pakistan

The Lahore police arrested a suspect in the Mianwali district after a man was found dead in the service rooms of a latrine belonging to the leader of PTI Mian Aslam Iqbal.

A day ago, a Lahore Samanabad Police team had been alerted to the body and recovered it, after which a case was recorded against unidentified people.

“A joint team arrested the suspect, agent Arshad, of Mianwali,” said an official statement issued today by Faisal Kamran, the inspector General of the Inspector General (DIG) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA).

According to sources, an initial investigation revealed that Arshad, a CIA official, lived in the service rooms he had rented through a property dealership.

The investigation had also revealed that Arshad had not attended his office during the last month or that he could be contacted. The police were still trying to identify the man found dead.

Dig Kamran confirmed in his statement today that Arshad had rented the “rooms in the tear (latrine) belonging to Mian Aslam. ”

“The suspect admitted the murder [and] He also told us the initial details, ”said the excavation, added that Arshad had thrown the murder tool in a river after committing the alleged crime.

In addition, he said that the suspect had tried to hide in his sister’s residence in Mianwali and that a greater investigation was underway.

The statement did not mention any supposed participation or action taken against IQBAL.

Iqbal, a former Punjab minister, is an experienced politician with more than two decades of experience in parliamentary politics, becoming a MPA in 2002.

After the general elections of 2024, Iqbal was chosen by the PTI as nominated for the main minister position. However, he was later replaced by frog Aftab Ahmed, who lost to Maryam Nawaz de PML-N, since Iqbal had not lent oath as MPA, fearing his arrest by the Punjab police.

Iqbal was among the PTI leaders who were declared criminals proclaimed in the case of attack of the Jinnah house on the riots of May 9, 2023.

On Sunday, the additional director Waqas Ahmed of the National Responsibility Office (NAB) was found dead inside his room in a guest house in Islamabad.

On the same day, a “missing” employee of the Jinnaah’s postgraduate medical center of Karachi, who also worked as a real estate agent, was found dead in the city’s Clifton area. Earlier this month, the body of a merchant, which was allegedly kidnapped the previous week, was found in the Karachi Seaview.
