Disputes and consequences of the industry
The case has been a magnet for controversy. Research critics have long argued that initial investigation was tarnished by delays and political interference. Sushant’s family has constantly maintained that the circumstances surrounding his death justify greater scrutiny, particularly accusing Rhea Chakraborty of financial exploitation and poor management. On the contrary, Chakraborty and his followers have denounced these accusations as part of a broader witch hunt.
Political parties accused each other of mishandling of the case. The governments of Bihar and Maharashtra faced the jurisdiction, while the political figures used the case to make accusations against the Bollywood elite.
Another important dispute point has been the debate on nepotism in Bollywood. Sushant’s struggle to ensure roles despite his talent caused a public discourse on how favoritism within the industry could have contributed to his despair. This discussion inflated even more in the case, with political and veteran figures of the industry that evaluated what they described as systemic problems in Hindi cinema.
The participation of multiple research agencies, which extend from the CBI to the NCB and the ED, added layers of complexity to the probe. While forensic teams conclusively ruled out the murder, these agencies deepened in financial and drug -related aspects.
Another point of discussion was the death of Dysha Salian, the former manager of Sushant, who died in mysterious circumstances on June 8, 2020, a few days before his death. The two cases were often linked to public discourse, further feeding conspiracy theories. His father recently approached the Superior Court of Bombay, looking for greater investigation and a FIR one against the politician Aadity Thakeray.
