The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request from two toys companies to accelerate its challenge to the rates of President Donald Trump.
The ruling of the Superior Court of the Nation means that the Trump administration now has the 30 -day standard window to present its response to the challenge.
Two small family businesses, learning resources and hand2mind, argued that the International Emergency Economic Powers does not give Trump the authority to implement their tariffs on China products.
The companies requested on Tuesday to the Supreme Court that accelerates the consideration of their challenge and overlooks a court of federal appeals.
“In the light of the mass impact of tariffs on practically all businesses and consumers throughout the country, and unwavering whip caused by tariff power without restrictions that the president affirms, the challenges for the tariffs of IEEEPA cannot wait for the normal appeal process,” the companies argued in their application.
Trump’s tariffs, a key part of their economic agenda, have attracted the legal challenges of companies and people who question their authority to implement high levies.
A Federal Court of Appeals earlier this month allowed Trump’s rates to remain in force until he listens to arguments at the end of next month.
