Punjab AG Gurminder Singh informed a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Sudhanshu Dhulia that the intervenors had gone to the protest site and met the farmers’ leaders and representatives. “According to intervenors, Dallewal agrees to take medical help if the Center invites farmers for talks on MSP,” he said. The bench headed by Justice Kant said, “The Punjab government is seeking three more days to implement the court’s order (December 20) and achieve the desired results. Taking into account the totality of the circumstances and in the interest of justice , we are inclined to accept the request for granting three more days of time.”

SC almost rejects Punjab’s ‘plea’ to involve Center
The court posted the matter for further hearing on January 2. Punjab AG told the court that the state had deployed 7,000 security personnel near the port, but a Punjab bandh called by another farmers’ union had completely hampered traffic. “We are doing everything possible to achieve the desired result,” he said.
The court asked the state chief secretary and the DGP to remain present virtually during the January 2 hearing on the contempt petition, which accused the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led AAP government of doing too little to implement the SC order. on December 20.
In its petition seeking more time to implement the order, the state government said, “Due to the deliberations and outreach with farmer organizations carried out by the Punjab government, there have been certain positive developments in the matter which are under consideration by the Centre.” “To allow it to bear fruit Given the positive developments, the state government requests three additional days to achieve the desired result.”
On the state’s claim that the Center is considering “positive developments”, Attorney General Tushar Mehta told the court that he had no instructions in this regard from the Union government. The court said: “We are only concerned with the implementation of our order. We can grant more time. We will not comment on the negotiation process.”
SC indicated that it would not take cognizance of the state’s indirect request to involve the Center in negotiations with farmers on the MSP issue.
On Dallewal’s health, the Punjab government said, “Doctors present at Khanauri border are constantly monitoring Dallewal’s health and he is under constant supervision of the medical board and all necessary medical help is being provided to him.”
On December 28, the Punjab government had told the high court that given the mobilization of farmers, who had put up a three-tier ring like a fortress around Dallewal on fast, the state felt helpless in implementing the CS order to hospitalization since the use of force would cause serious collateral damage.
SC had reprimanded the State and warned it against constitutional consequences when he declared himself helpless and said, “To save one life, we cannot lose any more lives.”
