Police recovered a suitcase containing Human remains from East River in New York on Wednesday night, police said.
The suitcase was found near the island of the governor, said the New York Police Department in a statement to NBC New York.
The port unit of the department regained the suitcase around 5:30 pm and took it to dock 16, where EMS pronounced the individual inside the deceased suitcase, according to the police.
The identity of the person is pending. The main forensic doctor’s office will determine the cause of death.
The police were not sure of the person’s age and gender, but confirmed that the remains were those of an adult.
The investigation is ongoing.
