The Federal Minister of Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced on Monday that Starlink services are operational in November or December of this year, Pakistan’s associated press reported.
Starlink Services, owned by the technological billionaire Elon Musk, is one of the most advanced technologically advanced companies among those provided by the Internet through low terrestrial orbit satellites.
Last month, the satellite -based Internet supplier received a temporary non -objection certificate to operate in Pakistan, according to a statement from the Ministry of IT.
On Monday, the Permanent Committee of the National Assembly reported discussions with Starlink, where it was confirmed that the license agreements are almost complete.
“The Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board has given Starlink a NOCPARY to operate in Pakistan,” Pakistan’s Telecommunications Authority (retired) Hafeezur Rehman reported to Pakistan. “Once the regulations are completed, you will receive a complete license to operate.”
When the president of the committee, Aminul Haq, asked why Starlink has not yet been awarded a complete license, IT Minister replied that there are no problems with licenses.
“Satellite Internet is a new technology and there were many people who sought their different aspects,” he replied. “A consultant has been hired to help finish the regulations. Once they are finished, Starlink will have to re -apply.
“After installing Starlink infrastructure, their services will be available in November or December 2025,” Shaza confirmed.
IT Minister added that Starlink was not the only satellite -based Internet provider that sought to enter the Pakistani market.
“We have a Chinese company that has also requested satellite Internet,” he said, not to mention the company by name.
