Hazaribag/Chatra: an attached general manager in NTPCKeredari’s coal mines were shot dead on Saturday morning in the Hazaribag district of Jharkhand, in what the police suspect that it was an objective attack linked to the coal mining mafia in the region.
Kumar Gaurav, 42, was going to work around 9.30 in the morning when two men on a motorcycle intercepted their car near Phathaha Chowk and opened fire, the police said. Gaurav sitting on the back of the car was beaten by bullets on the back and shoulder, which pierced his heart and proved to be fatal, according to contractor Javed Alam, who was in the front seat with the driver. Both escaped unharmed.
My eyes were on the way. When the car arrived in Phataha, we listen to a loud sound caused by the breakage of a window panel. Rana stopped to see what happened. Then we saw that the DGM had collapsed, ”said Alam. Gaurav, a resident of the Nalanda de Bihar district, had been with NTPC for two years. His old mother, his wife and an 11 -year -old daughter survive.
The police have arrested six people to interrogate. Hazaribag Sp Arvind Kumar Singh said that a special research team had formed to determine the reason. “It is not clear if the victim had enemies or was receiving threats,” he said.
The murder occurred one day after a coal merchant and his driver was shot in the Ranchi Bariatu area, highlighting the current tensions in the coal sector.
Coal -related violence has increased in the Hazaribag region. Gaurav is the fourth official killed in Jharkhand in five years. The murder has caused strong criticism of the opposition parties, which accused the Government led by JMM of not controlling the “illegality.”
