Some Tesla owners in B.C. embarrassed by company’s CEO amid charged political climate

Bob Porter has been driving electric vehicles for more than a decade for the desire to become green.

He bought a Tesla Model 3 almost seven years ago because, he said, the company’s technology was more advanced than other EV in the market at that time.

Lately, however, he feels that there is a goal in his back, since many have frustrated the participation of the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk with the United States government.

“You are aware that you are driving a Tesla and people see you, and you worry, will there be any impact?” said.

Porter, president of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association (VEVA), said they want people to know that being behind the wheel of a Tesla is not a political statement for most drivers.

Vancouver Tesla drivers are frustrated by Elon Musk’s affiliation with Trump

The head of the Vancouver electric vehicle association says that many Tesla drivers are frustrating with the affiliation of Elon Musk with the president of the United States, Donald Trump. The company’s shares are low and global sales have also decreased. But as Jon Hernández reports, analysts say that politics is not the fault of the recent fall.

He says that many VEVA members discourage Musk’s divisive actions as high -level advisor to the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

“Emotions are running out, so, of course, people are looking at Tesla’s owners as if we are all part of their club, and it is not true,” he said.

A bumper sticker on the back of Porter’s Tesla says: “I bought this before Elon went crazy.”

Porter said he has more stickers and has given some.

Vandalism at the Tesla de Investigation Concessionaire

The comment had been eliminated from the wall on Wednesday, but it could still be done. Tesla staff members declined to comment. Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Tania Visintin said that no arrests were made and that the file is under investigation.

Tim Burrows, a member of the Board of Electric Vehicle Society, a non-profit organization that advocates electric mobility in Canada, said he expects a dip in Las Sales de Tesla due to anti-mussy feeling.

“I know at least one person personally who was preparing to buy a Tesla … within next month or two and since then he has decided to go in a different way,” he said in a recent interview.

The automotive industry analyst Joe McCabe of Autoforecast Solutions said that the company faces other winds against important, which include the increase in prices, the decrease in reimbursements and the increase in competition.

“People have more selection in this space that they did not have in the past and I think Tesla will meet in front,” said McCabe.

Burrows told him that the presence of Musk in Tesla, an important player in the EV industry, ends up delaying a transition to electric vehicles in general.

“I think it will slow down the adoption of EV in Canada, and I think we are also seeing less purchase incentives at stake, which we know has a significant impact. All these things are creating some great winds against electrification.”
