Much of the south of Ontario and Quebec is under warning warnings and snowfall as a low pressure system moves to the east to the Atlantic provinces.
It is forecast that between 15 and 40 centimeters it will fall this afternoon in an area that extends from Windsor, Ontario, to Gaspé in Quebec.
Toronto Pearson International Airport accumulated 22 cm of snow from 6:30 am et, the airport said in a position on social networks.
The airport said it is the heaviest accumulation so far in winter. Several flights scheduled to leave on Thursday have been canceled, and travelers reported that other flights are delayed.
Ottawa International Airport was 19 cm of snow from 6 am, according to Environment Canada.
School cancellations have been reported in the province in Windsor, London, Waterloo, the Metropolitan Area of Toronto and East Ontario.
New Brunswick could see up to 25 cm in some areas as snowfall continue until tonight, with a risk of frozen rain in the central and southern parts of the province. Provincial schools have closed for the day.
The double storms from the south of the border are being aligned to bring strong snow to Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic of Canada until mid -February.
In New Scotland, some schools are closed for the day, while others will let out two or three hours before, depending on the region. Halifax airport advised travelers to verify the flight status for any arrival and departure today.
The snowfall is expected in western terranova to continue until Friday, with a prognosis of at least 10 to 20 cm.
Meanwhile, several West provinces are dealing with an extended period of extreme cold.
It is expected that parts of the south of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, together with sections of Alberta and Northern Ontario, see chilling –40 or lower values this week.
