Everyone seems to be in a hurry. This impatience is not about what was once called ‘the breed of the rat’. The rats race was towards a well -defined objective. However, it was cyclical for the majority. Round and round left. The faster they ran, the stronger the system was part of Got. The race was organized by a well -greased bureaucracy and supervised by governments and corporations that provided incentives for people to remain in the race.
However, more and more, people leave the old rats race. He had made them nuts and bolts in a machine. His goal was to survive and run a mechanical hierarchy, although most followed in circles. From the end of the 1920s to the early 1970s, the rats race remained a thing.
However, since the 1990s, when digital technology began to expand, it was introduced as the tool with the potential to dismantle the old machine and free people trapped within it. Instead that people go in circles to achieve “meaningless” objectives, the new technology was “empowering them” to become individuals who could write their own destinations.
The creators of this technology promised that it would unleash the “direct democracy”, would increase the “real communication” and mark the beginning of a system in which any person willing to use their imagination, creativity and “dream big” would have the opportunity to prosper.
Technological advances come with the notion that they are freeing people from ancient forms of capitalism without a soul. But are people being deceived and taken to social collapse and an authoritarian technocapitalist future?
But, eventually, the new technology ended up creating a completely new machine: “Technocapitalism.” Being part of this machine is not as “upward” as in ancient. In fact, the new machine is addictive. It feeds illusions of freedom and power to what are still nuts and screws. People go into mass as sheep, but with each one believing that they are “different”, “unique” and “special.”
The capitalism that was active from the 1930s to at least in the early 1970s was constantly modified to co -opt several aspects of the ideas that were actually opposed to capitalism. This was done to prevent those in the rats race from causing some interruption.
Capitalism produced by the new machine glorifies everything digital. The nuts and bolts of the new machine are different from those of the old machine. These are made to believe that they are working on their own free will. They really are not.
The billionaires who supervise the operation of the new machine are not like the old capitalists who were only interested in profits, but were also willing to modify their ambitions to mitigate the possibility that nuts and screws rebel against the machine. Unlike the owners of the old machine, those who execute the new one are “incurable idealists.” Yes, you read it well. At least that’s how they often portray themselves.
They position their businesses, not as companies that are obtained with desire, but as projects of consciousness that, through avant -garde technology, will end environmental degradation, disease, poverty, etc. This is often known as “technological optimism.” For his critics, however, it is a scam.
For example, techno-optimists have been promoting electric vehicles as an effective means to mitigate greenhouse gases.
