The six judges of the recently appointed Supreme Court were administered on Friday by the judge of the President of the Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, in a ceremony in Islamabad.
The appointment of the judges was affected by the controversy when the meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on February 10 when four members left, fervent opposition for the PTI opposition and protests for the lawyer’s fraternity.
The JCP meeting was held despite the refusal of two judges of the Supreme Court: Judge Mansoor Ali Shah and Judge Munib Akhtar, as well as two members of PTI, lawyer Ali Zafar and the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, who asked to President Justice that postponed the meeting. Amid reservations with respect to the 26th constitutional amendment.
The fraternity of the lawyers held protests outside the building of the Supreme Court, since they held banners and lifted slogans against the 26th amendment. However, the commission, for the majority of its total membership, nominated the six main interferential judges and judges of the higher courts.
The newly jury judges are Judges Muhamad Hashim Khan Kakar, Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Salahuddin Panhwar, Shakeel Ahmad, Aamer Farooq and Ishtiaq Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, Judge Miangul Hassan Aurengzeb lent oath as an interim judge of the SC.
The ceremony was attended by Judges of the SC, including Puisne’s senior judge, Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, and Judges Muneeb Akhtar, Ayesha Malik and Athar Minallah. In addition, the judges of the Superior Court, the Attorney General of Pakistan, representatives of the Council of the Bar Association of Pakistan, the Association of Lawyers of the Supreme Court and the lawyers attended.
For the first time, the oath taking ceremony was carried out outdoors in the Garden of the Apex court instead of in the ceremonial hall.
Separately, Judge Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar provided oath as the president of the Superior Court of Islamabad, with President Asif Ali Zardari who administered the oath to him.
There is no personal grudge against anyone: Judge Shah
In an informal talk with journalists after the ceremony, Judge Mansoor Ali Shah denied any crack among the judges of the Apex court.
When asked about the judges who do not perform their duties, Judge Shah said: “Look at the case elimination rate. Whose verdicts have been published in Legan Books, all records are available with the Supreme Court. ”
While answering a question about whether a reference was presented against him, the judge replied that he would see when the reference was advanced.
Judge Shah added that he had no grudge or differentiate with anyone, but they should look at the “elephant in the room.”
“When a reference arrives, it will be examined. If nothing wrong has been done, there is no reason to fear. Allah is watching everything, ”he told reporters.
Antiquity list of updated SC judges
The new appointments brought a change in the antiquity of the judges. After the President of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Judge Shah is the highest judge, followed by Judges Muneeb Akhtar, Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Commandkhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Ayesha Malik, Athar Mord Mallah, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Shahid Waheed and Musarrat Hilali .
Following judges Irfan Saadat, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Shahzad Malik, Aqeel Abbasi, Shahid Bilal Hassan, Hashim Kakar, Shafi Siddiqui, Salahuddin Panhwar, Shakeel Ahmed, Aamer Farooq, Istiaq Ibrahim, Miianguul Hassan Aurangzz, Sard Jelón.
