Bathinda: Bathinda police have arrested 6 people, including two of the Indian army after a brief encounter. They were sought by the police in a case of outburst committed at gunpoint Assault rifle AK 47 stolen from the Indian Army Unit in Jammu. The police have not yet verified the claims made by two of them to serve in the army and one of them facing the army investigation into the theft of the assault rifle.
According to the information, six people had arrived at the Green hotel in Bhucho near Bathinda on the night of March 11 and 6 years, the three had entered and snatched RS 7000 from the owner of the Luv Kumar hotel. The police had registered a FIR one against unknown people and on Friday received a tip that the accused were seen in Bathinda-Bhucho Road.
Bathinda Sp City, Narinder Singh, said a police party acted according to the notice and when he tried to arrive near the defendant, one of them fired a weapon to the police party that hit the vehicle. The police in retaliation shot two shots and one of them hit one of the defendants identified as Satwant in the leg. The police managed to arrest the six in the vehicle that were identified as injured Satwant, Arshdeep, Hargun, Arsh and Sunil and Gurdeep. Sunil and Gurdeep claimed to be serving in the Indian army, respectively, in Jammu and Srinagar, since Sunil claimed to have stolen Jammu’s weapon, but currently permission and have stolen the vehicle of his place of publication in Jammu before coming from permission.
SP said the police still verify the statements, since contact with the Army authorities are being made.
